This year marks Beacon Mutual's 30th year of protecting RI businesses and their employees. One way Beacon chose to commemorate this special occasion is through the "30th Anniversary Charity of Choice" employee giving program. Each Beacon employee was given the opportunity to select one charity from a list of 30 local charities approved by The Beacon Foundation to receive a $100 donation.
Over $16,000 was donated to deserving RI organizations that align with Beacon's core values: Commit to Care, Do the Right Thing, Explore Possible, Embrace Inclusion, Be Remarkable or Impact Our Community.
We are so pleased to be able to make these donations on the behalf of our employees which should go a long way to support the good work of local charities in our community.
Further, Beacon employees will donate their time to volunteer at a number of local community organizations during a day of service in the summer and fall.
Charities selected align with one of Beacon's core values: Commit to Care, Do the Right Thing, Explore Possible, Embrace Inclusion, Be Remarkable or Impact Our Community.
Local charities of choice included — the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association of Southern New England, Amos House, Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI, Boys & Girls Club of Warwick, Children's Friend and Service, Clean Ocean Access, Crossroads RI, Dorcas International Institute of RI, Family Services of RI, Girls Scouts of Southeastern New England, Hope Alzheimers Center, Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care RI, J Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center, McCauley Ministries, Meals on Wheels of RI, NAACP Providence Branch, Operation Stand Down of RI, PACE Rhode Island, Progreso Latino, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, RI Philharmonic & Music School, RI Pride, RI ASPCA, Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England, Sojourner House, Special Olympics RI, and Thundermist Health Center.

As mentioned in a recent 30th Anniversary announcement, Beacon Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Rajani Mahadevan said, “Giving back to Rhode Island policyholders and local charities on our 30th anniversary is true to Beacon’s continuous commitment to the community. We are not just an insurance company – we are a company with heart ”.
At Beacon, we're committed to working together to support non-profit organizations that make the Ocean State a better place to live, work, and play! That's why we started The Beacon Foundation, a charitable foundation, started in 2020. To date, it has donated close to $130,000 to local nonprofits.
“While large insurance carriers operate from hundreds of miles away, Beacon's experts are local and are never far from the policyholders they serve. We care about Rhode Islanders because we are Rhode Islanders,” continued Mahadevan.
